Do not promise someone the stars
if you cannot see them yourself.
"He's in from out of town. Wow. That sounded so grown-up. We're at the age now where we say things like "in from out of town" and "old friend", 'cause when you're young, all your friends are new, and you have to get old to have old friends."

"It's not simple to say that most days I don't recognize me. That these shoes and this apron, that place and it's patrons have taken more than I gave them. It's not easy to know I'm not anything like I used to be. Although it's true I was never attention's sweet center, I still remember that girl.
She's imperfect but she tries.
She is good but she lies.
She is hard on herself.
She is broken and won't ask for help.
She is messy but she's kind.
She is lonely most of the time.
She is all of this mixed up
and baked in a beautiful pie.
She is gone but she used to be mine."

It's one thing when he says, "I love you."
It's another thing when he says, "I love you very much."
I'm a lucky girl.

Days Gone By.

Saturday:
Spent the afternoon hanging out with Albert and his family; watching tv, flying a kite, going to the mall - it was one of those times where the accumulation of little every day activities turned into a fun and memorable few hours.

Later that night I made plans with Robin for dinner and drinks. We went to this place called The Iron Press in Costa Mesa and it was sooo good. Gourmet waffle sandwiches + delicious beer + good company = a successful night out.

Funny story: after dinner we planned to go out to Downtown Santa Ana, but instead we opted for a night in with lots of ice cream and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. We clearly made the right decision.

Sunday:
Another outing with Kat, Justin, and the little monster. We browsed through the Long Beach flea market for a few hours (they raised their admission price to $6!! Not okay...) and I didn't buy anything this time, but it was fun looking through all the stuff.

After working up an appetite, we tried to figure out what to eat and as being as indecisive as we all are, we let Chloe decide. Result: Red Robin! It's been a while since I've been to Red Robin, but the mushroom burger was just as good as ever. (Not pictured: bottomless freckled lemonade - didn't realize how much I missed it until that first sip. So. Good.)

Goodbye weekend, hello extremely long week ahead of me! Is it Friday yet?

I Do (Eventually).

Between watching a lot of Say Yes to the Dress lately (it's on Netflix!), watching Runaway Bride last night, pulling bridal samples for work, and hearing about recent engagements of friends and acquaintances alike, weddings have been on my mind a lot. My wedding to be exact.

It doesn't technically exist yet, seeing as I'm not engaged or getting married anytime soon, but it's existed in my head since practically forever. The idea of it and the planning of how it's going to look, where it's going to be, who's going to be there, what I'm going to wear... all of that has been secretly in the works in the back of my mind.

And I really hope one day I get to have the wedding of my dreams. It's not that I want to have a really big wedding or anything, I just like the idea of celebrating love and a new chapter of life.

Committing to someone for the rest of your life is a pretty big accomplishment and definitely worth celebrating, don't you think?

I do.

Things of the Week.

Thing #1: I have a weird obsession with mugs. Especially colorful ones.
Thing #2: I was walking around Whole Foods the other day and realized they have the cutest signs ever in every single aisle. I appreciate that.

Thing #3: A pizza box with my name on it. Can life really get any better?

Thing #4: I live for happy hour specials. Especially when it's at a fancy-shmancy place like Fleming's and everything is only $6.
Thing #5: Cherry blossoms.

It's the little things throughout the week that keep me going.

Pick Me Up.

Zara tank & Hazelnut Macchiato
The items pictured above are what happens when I have a bad day. Shopping and Starbucks is seriously the best pick-me-up combo (right after ice cream and chick flicks, of course).

Well, This Is Awkward.

There are a few things in life that I flat out judge other people for doing/liking/enjoying, but mostly in my head and sometimes out loud if I'm feeling very strongly on the subject. But after all my quiet judgement and stifled snickering, I have regrettably become aware of things that I have been doing that I never thought in a million years would happen to me.

1) I'm officially that person who carries around their iPad everywhere. I'm not even that important, you guys.
2) I have about 4% interest in house music. Pretty sure I though it would stay at -12% for just about forever. The positive number is astounding in itself.
3) Reality TV. Can't. Stop. Watching. My poor, poor brain...
4) "Once you go iPhone you never go back." Oops.
5) Cats are totally happening right now. I kinda of hate it and I kind of love it. WHO AM I?

Sigh. I'll go sit in the corner now and think about what I've done...
